Markup Compatibility between ADR 2007 and ADR 2008

With many companies still using Autodesk Design Review 2007 it is very likely that the question will come up as to whether one can create markups with Autodesk Design Review 2007 and send them for review and/or edit to Autodesk Design Review 2008.

Before addressing this particular question we should clarify that Autodesk Design Review 2007 will be removed from a machine should one install Autodesk Design Review 2008 on the same. This is as designed and a built-in function of the installer.

As far as markups are concerned:

  • 2D markups are interchangeable between the 2007 and 2008 versions and can be edited and changed and send back and forth as many times as you like.
  • 3D markups on the other hand cannot and should not be exchanged between the versions. This is a limitation and due to the 3D markup in Design Review 2008 being based on a different format.

What are the plans moving forward? - Honestly, we have no answer to the question at this point. Ask us again in 6 months time ...
