You can publish 2D or 3D DWF files from Autodesk Revit.
To create a 2D DWF file:
- Click File menu -> Export DWF -> 2D DWF. The Export dialog opens.
- To export object data as part of a non-shaded DWF file, click the Options button, select Export Object Data for Revit Elements, and click OK.
When you export object data, reviewers can see the object data when they select objects in the Autodesk DWF Viewer or Autodesk Design Review (formerly known as Autodesk DWF Composer). - Click Print Setup and choose Sheet Size, Paper Placement, Zoom, and other settings.
- In the Export dialog, navigate to the directory where you want to save the DWF file.
- Enter a file name.
- Specify any desired settings for the output. If you export to 2D DWF using the Selected views/sheets option, the resulting DWF file will contain hyperlinks. When you open a DWF file, you can link between standalone views and, if you printed a sheet, views on the sheet.
- Click Save to publish the 2D DWF file or files.
NOTE: If any of the views you are exporting are in Shaded mode, Revit Building uses raster processing for images.
To create a 3D DWF file:
- Open a 3D view.
- Click File menu -> Export DWF -> 3D DWF. The Export dialog opens.
- In the Export dialog, navigate to the directory where you want to save the DWF file.
- Enter a file name.
- Click Save to publish the 3D DWF file.
DWF files allow you to share design information securely and easily. Using the DWF format, you can avoid unintended changes to project files, and you can share project files with clients and others who do not have Revit Building. DWF files are significantly smaller than the original RVT files, making them easy to send by electronic mail, post to a Web site, or FTP to a commercial reprographer.
