DWF got its humble beginnings as the Drawing Web Format. This way people associated it with AutoCAD drawings and the worldwide web. As the format evolved to provide workflow solutions, the name changed to Design Web Format to reflect how it is used. Today we simply refer to it as DWF; however, there are other DWFs in the world.
