As part of our Autodesk University 2006 presentation on "What DWF Can Do For You?" Brian Mathews noted that DWF files have sufficient precision to easily represent all of the United States to within a centimeter. But even with all of that precision, if you printed a map of the United States on a postage stamp, you could guess what it would look like. So when publishing DWF files from Autodesk design applications, specifying a larger paper size is advantageous. This defines the "virtual paper size" inside the DWF file. DWF supports virtual paper sizes up to 1,000 by 1,000 inches. Even with a large virtual paper size, the DWF file can still be printed to various different physical paper sizes as needed. Printing can be done to scale or made to fit the paper.
