Jim Flanigan is the project manager for the Nile release. Nile is the project name for the next version of Autodesk Design Review that we are currently working on. The beta is underway on http://myfeedback.autodesk.com. Long ago, when Jim was working on the Amazon project, he wrote a song about it as his entry in our mock American Idol contest called Autodesk Idol.
The Software Code Writin' Blues
I just got the email
The word has finally come
We've got to hit our ship date
Now I'm under the gun
And I've got the blues -
The software code writin' blues
Yeah if you want to ship your application
You know you've got to pay your dues
We're trying to solve a problem
We're working on the math
I'm under so much pressure
Because I'm on the critical path
I've got the blues -
The software code writin' blues
If you want to ship your application
You know you've got to pay your dues
I'm slipping on the schedule
And someone's got to pay
If we don't get more people
We'll have to work the holiday
And I've got the blues -
The software code writin' blues
If you want to ship your application
You know you've got to pay your dues
They want to add another feature
But we can't take no more
They're going to send it over
To that team in Bangalore
And I've got the blues -
The software code writin' blues
If you want to ship your application
You know you've got to pay your dues
Just came from another meeting
Been talking to the boss
He said I got to work the overtime
But I can take the summer off
And I've got the blues -
The software code writin' blues
Yeah if you want to ship your application
You know you've got to pay your dues
To see Jim perform of the song:
Jim helps get our projects done on time. I wasn't kidding when I said he could hold his breath until he turned blue. Jim will do whatever it takes to guide us in shipping Nile on time with high quality.
